You would do anything for your child, but you feel that something isn’t right. You want to help them however you can, but it could be that you don’t even know where to start.

A father and son learn how to have even more fun together.

You might be thinking, “My child’s behavior is out of control. I love them more than anything, but I’m so stressed out and I feel like I’m at the end of my rope.” Maybe it’s because they’re refusing to listen to anyone or having horrible tantrums. They seem angry more often than other children and you’re overwhelmed by the phone calls from their school about their behavior.

You’re confused and feel like you would do anything to make things better. You feel like you’ve tried everything: books, doctors, other therapies, behavior charts, you name it, but nothing has helped.

Perhaps you find yourself getting angry and losing your temper at your child more often, which makes you feel ashamed, but you just don’t know what else to do. You might even be blaming yourself and feeling judged by other parents, family members, or teachers. It can feel like you’re alone, but you’re not! With PCIT, parents are able to help their child improve their behaviors and enjoy their relationships even more!

A mother comforts her anxious son.

Maybe you’re here because it seems that your child is worried, anxious, or afraid all the time. You think, “Why is my child so worried?” or “Why won’t my child talk?”

Is your child complaining of stomachaches and headaches often, even though they’re not sick? Do they scream and cry when it’s time to go to school, when you have to leave the house, or even when you just have to go to another room?

Are teachers telling you that your child has never spoken to them, even though they talk all the time at home? Do they clam up and freeze when other adults try to talk to them? Are they easily scared of things that don’t seem to bother other children?

Selective Mutism and anxiety are more common than most people realize! You might feel confused, guilty, or hopeless, but it’s not your fault and we can help your child together. You will be able to help your child feel confident!

A father helps his child heal from trauma.

It could be that your child has suddenly changed and you have no idea why- they don’t seem like their usual happy, playful self. Or perhaps your worst nightmare has come true and someone has hurt, abused, or touched your child inappropriately.

This can be traumatizing not just for the child, but for you and the family as well. If you feel sick to your stomach and desperate, I want you to know that I’m here to walk through the healing process with you. We can help your child feel like themself again!

My goal is to always help my clients feel accepted, supported, and empowered! In therapy, I will collaborate with you to identify your goals for you/your child and use the strengths you already have within you to help get you there together.

Personal

Whether it’s sitting by a fire on a cool evening, having a game night, going camping, or just simply being at home, my absolute favorite way to spend my time is with friends, family, my three rescue dogs, and my loved ones.

I’m an avid reader, but I also love painting and being outdoors. When the weather is cooler, my favorite activities are hiking, camping, snow-skiing, and doing anything in the mountains.

During my free time in the summer, I’m often swimming at the pool, kayaking, enjoying the river near my home, or going to the lake (wakeboarding is my favorite). When the opportunities present themselves, I’m also passionate about scuba diving, trying new things, and traveling!
